Dear Twitter

Well. Look at that. When a friend said he’s seen Andy Oliver gossiping about my blog post I took a screen shot of how many views it had. This was yesterday.

Not many. I don’t get many. It’s ok, I don’t crave hits.

I then got another message from another mutual friend of Andy’s saying that it had turned a little nasty. I’m not a big Twitter user or fan. It’s generally more trouble than it’s worth but this time curiosity got the better of me.

It’s also worth pointing out that I didn’t do anything other than post this a few weeks ago. Zero promotion . So to find it you have to go looking for it. Is it sweary? -yes. Is it funny? – I think so. Is it true? – yes it is. There’s nothing there I haven’t heard from others over and over.

This also has nothing to do with Dan or Vince. That’s well worth pointing out. Singling out the ACP podcast (I do two) is just plain malicious.

This is an exertion of desperate control by someone who for whatever reason doesn’t like me and is taking something personally that wasn’t directed at anyone in particular. You’ll notice that Andy has logged in and out of his other two Twitter accounts to like his own post. (And repost it). That is bordering on angry obsession?

The timing on this post from Broken Frontier (aka Andy) is interesting. It comes immediately after I offered to meet him for a chat, about an hour and a half to be exact. A chat between ‘two people who love comics’. I have the screen shots. The messages were the opposite of threatening. I thought we could thrash the problems out that he has with me after seeing him get so personal. He didn’t reply, instead he posted about the podcast.

It’s worth mentioning that this also comes as the ACP is at its most popular. We are reaching 8 years of supporting small press and our numbers have never been bigger.

It’s fair to say that I’m guessing Andy doesn’t like me. I have tried to speak to him a few times, a couple a few years ago at events and he just walked away. I was told by colleagues that he only likes to speak to women and not to take it personally. I didn’t. Comics innit.

This is nothing more than an argument in an empty room. I’m not going to apologise. He knows that. If you can’t see the love I have for comics then you’re blind. This post is attacking my two friends and many others. If Andy doesn’t like me or what I wrote or doesn’t want to meet me then please just take it out on me.

After all, it was only a few hours that Andy himself was joking about it. how many of you would have now seen it if it wasn’t for Andy’s post? I actually thought it was funny – I’d have bought that T! So much for ‘the hurt’ huh.

I have nothing else to say about this.

Andy, you have my phone number.

Many thanks for reading.
