I’ve been keeping a record of all the comics that I read since October last year. Along with that I’ve been recording how much I enjoy each issue. A simple, personal gauge of what I like and what I don’t.
At the end of the year I’ll be drawing a lot of conclusions about old vs new, indie vs mainstream, reads vs rereads, etc.
But as the 12 months races to an end I thought I’d start a best/worst of the week. No long explanations, just a quickie hit.
Week 24/8-30/8/2023.
Let’s start on a high!
Top – 10/10.

The level of details and plotting that went into this cracker from Cinebook and Philippe Aymond is staggering. He’s jumped up the list of my favourite artists and it is a crime that more isn’t available in English – back to those french lessons I guess.
And…
Bottom 1/10.

I bought the first issue of this series off the shelf. Realised what a waste of money it was and waited to see if it improved on the Marvel App. It didn’t. Under drawn, badly plotted tosh. What the fuck are they thinking?!?
News.
Coming your way later this week is another NIA pod with my buddy Alan Henderson. He has suggested a book this week that I feel somewhat conflicted over. Watch out for it dropping.
Conventions.
September is a big month. I’m hoping to get to N.I.C.E. In Bedford this Saturday and then the following Friday I’ll be at Baltimore.
Can’t wait to see buddies Cliff Cumber and Matt Strott in Maryland for my first time at Baltimore on the Friday and then SPX on the Saturday/Sunday. If you’re there drop me a message and say hi.
More on these events soon.
Many thanks for reading.
