Some Paul Pope chat on the Pod

This week Alan re-joins Tony to talk about the 1999 Paul Pope Vertigo mini-series Heavy Liquid.

A dystopian future city story about a sci-fi drug that avoids the cliches we see these days. How does this align with modern science fiction? How does Pope show his influences in this story? Why is Picasso featured at least twice? Oh look, is that Bad Lord Byron? Is this a story about drugs and the Fine Art Market?

They also discuss the merits of Pope’s art compared to the issues they had with some of the plotting.

See if you agree. There are opinions galore in this chat.
