Tops and Bottoms 15/11/2023

Evening,

Apologies for the lateness of this one but I had a long drive and an early start. I did land some twenty minutes early so managed to get a comic under my belt before the working wedge began proper. See below for some details.

It’s been a strange week. A good friend died at an early age and long, long before he should have this week. The tragic event had many effects, not least of all on his family. This dude was beloved. You won’t find a person with a bad word to say about him. I’ll miss him.

Sometimes in this hobby of ours we are prone to miss the big picture. We focus in on the nonsense. Cruelty and dishonesty seems to be everywhere. This week on the ACP we tried to pull some ideas in that might go some way to fixing that nonsense. We are men of passion who have handed big chunks of our lives to this silly hobby, so please excuse our rants. And to prove our allegiance to the medium we also recommend some cracking comics. Have a listen.

As an aside I’m reminded that it is very nearly the 60th anniversary of Who! We have some comics related events ahead and I’m pretty excited. But, go watch some fourth adventures. Get some of that original gothic in your retinas. Still the best.

Over to the task at hand.

Tops.

This was both an easy choice and a last minute one. I read this early today and it was on a massive scale visually and in how far the art and writing were ahead of the crowd this week. Last issue in the five issue event run. It doesn’t let the reader down.

Nothing I can talk about without giving away an epic ending. Get the issues or wait for the trade that is out next month.

Bottoms.

This was a strange choice. I had hoped that it would be so much better but actually just comes off as flimsy and lazily drawn.

A genuine missed opportunity. The only things that seem to stand out on a page are the word balloons. The indistinct pages that interminably muddy appear over and over again and only tell a story about how overpriced this nonsense is.

Best avoided for your eyes, brain and wallets.

Many thanks for reading.
