Morning,
Time speeds up the older you get, it’s inevitable and tiresome. Today is the day in the month that my fat pension cheque lands. I’m also up at 4am, travelling into London, and working in a coffee shop. Welcome to my world. (Well, I say working. I’m doing this and reading a comic while everything loads).
It’s also the first day that I’ve been digitally moved from the ComiXology application to Kindle. Thanks to the new venue I’ve also simultaneously been complimented on my one day reading streak. How about you just fuck off and get on with it! The loading process feels a bit slower than usual? That may be the Wi-Fi I’m using or just the creaky app stuff and stiffness. Oh well, the future beckons, who am I to deny it’s awkward and preachy siren call?
On to that task at hand.
Tops.
Easy one.
Imagine a world where all comics were written and drawn as well as this brilliant slice of fantasy adventure. I could screenshot every single page and word balloon of this baby.

We begin to learn more about the alliance and the villains. But as this develops more mysteries and dangers are revealed. Each and every single character has their own voice and design. The art is rich and often has moments of genuine Wow. The writing has a meaningful poignancy and it’s a dream, fast paced, intelligent and fun read. There are a few comics out there that make you remember the joy of New Comic Book Day, and this is up there.

The art has moments of the personal and then we get the broad scope of the world. I’ll leave you with this single panel, that’s not even a whole page. Stop showing off Wildgoose!

Bottoms.
Remember how I mentioned the word ‘tiresome’ earlier in this blog?

I’m not an anti-Liefeld type of dude. I’ve bought my share of his comics and enjoyed some of his art. It can have a strange energy that I’ll sometimes find interesting. But this isn’t one of his best. It’s also not his first entry into the bottoms section.

Take a look at this double page spread. Then have a look at the figure drawings of each hero?
They are nearly all in the same position. An unnatural pose at that!
Oh Rob!
Have fun today. Many thanks for reading.
