Today…

Today I bought eighteen new comics from my regular UK-based comic shop.

I don’t get a discount.

None of the comics were trades or oversized editions in any real way. One was a reprint from 1982.

This cost me £86.75.

The first issue of Spider-Man ‘Gang War’ cost £5.85. (that’s $5.99, not sure how that translates…)

It has 31 pages of story and is the first issue that leads into a cross title story that at the moment runs to 26 issues across existing titles, specials and mini-series.

It has two unspectacular splash pages and took me seven minutes to read.

This is not value for money.

I will not be following this story.

Based purely on price, who are these meant for? Who can afford that cost? Certainly not kids. The direct market Marvel/DC system is broken and needs fixing.
