Some Tops and Some Bottoms for 16/1/2024

Evening,

It’s only Tuesday afternoon. Say that out loud three times and fuck all magical will happen.

My advice, wear brown trousers and sit by the door.

Welcome back to my weekly offering of what I’ve enjoyed the most and what I seriously have not. It’s not a deep dive but sure as fuck gets it out of my system.

On Sunday the ACP hosted Cullen Bunn and Heath Amodio. Both gentlemen writers who after ten minutes warmed up to our tomfoolery. We got deep into some craft. Have a listen to my suggestion that pornography would work better with added first person narration. Copyrighted Me!

So…. What made the tops and bottoms of my chart this week!

Tops.

Had heard a few people that I respect talking about this series and always enjoyed Mark Russell’s writing.

I go deep into the plot on the new ACP episode. It’s one of the best written comics I have experienced for a while. No issue 1 info dumps and characters you learn to love. Highly recommended it’s just reached issue six and is due to run 11 in all. Get on it!

Bottoms.

What you see above is issue 3 of a comic series called The Freed Warrior.

Blurb by the publisher – ‘The freed warrior follows the battle of an unnamed warrior in Africa who is captured in battle and is now fighting for his freedom.’

Not a panel from issue 3. That, right there, is the whole of the issue.

I could write here that it’s an exploration of space and rhythm or… in the laying of the shrill and indistinct pencil lines we are drawn back to the source of all human suffering…

But we all know that it’s just shit.

The above comic is another grift. An attempt to wring a pound note from the public. I found both this week’s choices on the Global Comix reading app. A paid subscription service. I hope that only one of them gets a PayPal notification!

Many thanks for reading.
