Morning,
Just a quickie today.
Another week of comics. I’ve been doing a few comics rereads and am currently working my way through volume 1 of The Avengers. I’ve just hit issue 115 and am finding the Englehart Swordsman/Mantis storyline pretty interesting. I think I’ll head over to his JLA issues as an aside to see what he continues over there shortly. Both are great characters who I feel like have been given a bit of a short shrift in the televisual/movie world.

Meanwhile, over at the ACP we had a good chat about so-called Silent Issues with special guest Forpey. As usual it all gets a little lively’ Have a listen.
Off to the task at hand. Another exercise in seeing what I’ve been reading this week. The best and the worst.
Tops.
I really need to read more Mad Cave comics if this one is anything to go by. So good in fact that I was checking the credits to see if it was a BD translation.

An old man out walking his dog finds a diary in a den of sleeping wolves. It’s the story of a young Londoner posted to the trenches of the Great War. He is sent to work with a special Unit who are not what they seem.

This is a horror story that weaponises the bleakness of that horrific war as part of an atmosphere of bleakness, death, barbarism and cannibalism. One of the best things I have read this year easily. The growth of the lone soldier shows at every page turn with one major moment taking his innocence.

Highly recommended.
Bottoms.
What the fuck is this bollocks now?!?
Ha! The deluded run riot in this medium sometimes.

$5 for a paper copy – All four pages of it.
I shit you not.
Thanks for reading. See you soon.
