Tops and Bottoms – 25th February 2025.

Hey folks,

The world clock ticks down right. The ‘End of the World is Nigh’ prophecies wax-on and wane-off but seem to be closer than ever at the moment.

Would a cheeky cover reveal cheer you up?

Coming Soon!

Meanwhile another clock ticks for the Tribute crew. We are nearing the March launch of our Spring Catalogue. At the moment it’s three comics and one prose book that are to be on the ‘This will upset someone’ section of the comic shop shelves. Art is coming in fast and I’ve sent one of the comics off for a test print this very week. We have been running previews and interviews over at the Tribute Press Substack right here. Go have a read and sign up.  The above cover is from three of the best in the business. Cliff Cumber on Art, Ken Reynolds on design and logo assist from Vince Hunt.

Over at the ACP we get back to talking about all things retail with Andy from Secret Identity Comics in Chester. These brick and staple institutions are all that is holding up the foundations (enough building metaphors already!) of a dodgy looking industry. We hear from this new venture about how they are approaching the changes currently plaguing the industry. Not to be missed.

So…

Back to the task at hand. The top and bottom of what I have been reading this week.

Small Press Magazine of the Week.

Bubbles has been about for quite a few years now. I have it on my pull list at Gosh and always enjoy seeing it arrive and reading about the US small press and underground scene. This release has an interview with Olivier Schrauwen. The artist/writer on ‘Sunday’ a graphic novel that massively failed to land for me. Not for any ability on show but rather for the content. I’ll be reading this interview to see how wrong I got it and then try a reread.

Tops.

One single page in the new issue of Geiger (issue 11) made my weekend. It’s too much for those awaiting trades so I won’t ruin the moment, but hurry up and read this. I need to talk to someone about it!

Ghost Machine makes this spot more than any other company. Because they make good and professional comics. Marvel and DC need to watch and learn.

Bottoms.

More Marvel Mutant half-arsed nonsense.

What the F is going on with those faces?!?

Oh well. Not everything can be perfect.

Many thanks for reading. Catch you soon.
