Tops and Bottoms 2/5/2024

Alright! I’m a day late. I have genuine excuses. (That you don’t care about so let’s get on with it!) Please excuse my typing on this one as I am still somewhat off my tits!

It’s been an eventful week. We did a Free Comic Book Day episode over at the ACP. We also go deep on reworking old characters for a modern reader. And I quote Carl Pilkington. Have a listen here.

I’ve also brought back the Never Iron Anything podcast after a three month hiatus. For the next few weeks I’ll be getting together with a number of talented collaborators and just chatting about what they are doing. The first episode with Adam Falp is available here. But don’t listen if you don’t like swearing and Bum Jokes. Find Adam at his website here.

Speaking of Adam we also talk about the origins and characters in the new Tribute Press release currently (for just a day or so) on Kickstarter. Flesh & Ink is the story of a bunch of sports car driving, pipe smoking, cricket playing comics creators who have an office above a strip club in the seventies and fight Satanists. (Standard). If you read this today you should be in time to back! Here’s the link.

Back to what the title says I should be doing.

Tops.

This one came straight out of the blue. I’m not religious at all. Catholic boarding school will soon cure you of that nonsense. So this one got read whilst I was bored and waiting for a delayed flight. Just a random read. But it really hit that spot that Vertigo used to massage.

It continues not only he story of the great betrayer but also Jesus. Both end up in Hell and it explores implications, religious mythology and forgiveness. The art is to die for and really gave me a moment.

Reading out of your comfort zone often pays off.

Bottoms.

Four pages long, including the cover. Not got a Scooby what is happening!

Many thanks for reading!

I’m off to hallucinate my mates being turned into action figures! (Long Story).
